Harold Garde was an American painter who was born in 1923 in Maine and died in 2018 at the age of 94. He is known for his abstract expressionist paintings, which often feature bold lines and vibrant colors. Garde studied at the University of Maine and Columbia University before serving in World War II. After the war, he moved to New York City and became a part of the abstract expressionist movement. In the 1960s, he moved to Maine and continued to paint until his death. Garde's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums both nationally and internationally, and is included in numerous public and private collections. He was also a writer and taught art for many years.
